Harvest Hays
About Harvest Hays
Harvest Hays is a nonprofit farm in Hays, Kansas, operated by the Arc of Central Plains. Founded in 2023, our mission is to use agriculture as a platform for vocational training, therapy, and independence for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).
Through hands-on farming, we grow fresh, local produce while creating meaningful opportunities for skill-building and community engagement.

Our Mission & Community Impact
- Provide Vocational and life skills training for individuals with I/DD.
- Grow and supply fresh, local produce to the Hays community.
- Build partnerships with organizations like Bethesda Place and USD 489's WeKan Center.
- Encourage community inclusion and empowerment through farming.
Farm Operations
The farm is located on a 5-acre site in Hays, KS, featuring three high tunnels with 6,000 sq. ft. of growing space. Supported by a federal grant, this infrastructure allows us to extend our growing season and diversify crop offerings.
In our first season, we produced more than 1,000 pounds of fresh produce, supplying local businesses such as Verdant Bistro and Klema Apple Market.
What We Grow
Our farm produces a wide variety of fresh, seasonal crops:
- Tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, squash
- Potatoes, peas, beans, okra
- Sweet and hot peppers
- Melons and fresh herbs
For 2025, we plan to grow over 40 different crop varieties and introduce new products such as spice blends.
